Assignment = DONE!!
Tuesday, June 16, 2009

finally finished my stupid Microwave & Satellite Communications assignment!! \(^_^)/

i cheated a bit by printing out the cover X3 but overall, minus the cover, i did a total of FIFTEEN PAGES (inclusive of graphs, pictures & formulas) xD not bad for a day's work 8D

i've been writing non-stop since my half-hour lunch break Dx it's a good thing some of the pictures were big enough to take up space xD and i used lined paper instead of the normal blank paper coz i was too lazy to draw lines and stuff XD heck, my list of references itself took up TWO PAGES 8D

and more good news! my morning classes for tomorrow and Thursday are cancelled! \(^_^)/

Monday, June 15, 2009

i finally found and bought the microcontroller that i've been looking for for the past week \(^_^)/

and that's one less thing to worry about :D now i have to write up my Microwave & Satellite Communications assignment Dx my lecturer actually gave us a month to do our research and write up the assignment but i've been putting it off...till now Dx the research part was easy but the problem is... he wants a hand-written assignment oTZ and it has to have at least FIVE PAGES!!

To the library...AGAIN
Sunday, June 14, 2009

spent my morning at the public library...again Dx luckily i managed to find enough material to write a decent report :D

then, i remembered that i'd found some stuff online too but i forgot to print them out Dx so i had sis to print them out... unfortunately, the printer was out of ink Dx

by then, i was already starving to death so i had mum come pick me up from the library... we had lunch at McD xD we planned to buy ink for the printer but we had to pick up grandma from the train station first Dx

after dropping off grandma at home, we went off to Carrefour and luckily, they sold printer ink there :D so we walked around for a bit and i found a bargain sale for books and they were selling them for only RM5 per book! \(^_^)/

went home afterwards and i could finally print out my material :D

now i just have to wait for Intan to ask our lecturer if we could borrow the rainbow cable as a reference to get one ourselves Dx

Component Shopping #1
Saturday, June 13, 2009

mum took me (and sis, for some reason) shopping for components that i need for my final year project. i figured now would be a good time to start 'collecting' all the parts for the project since i have till October to finish the project =_=

it's still a good thing that i chose to do the 'hardware' part of the project while my partner is in-charge of the 'software' part :D

got most of the parts that i need but i'm still missing the microcontroller (aka the brain/heart of the project) Dx without it, i can't do anything oTZ

not to mention, i also have to shop for parts for my mini-project (Interfacing class) Dx so far, i've already bought the parts but the problem is my lecturer also wants the parts to be assembled. unfortunately, the staff at the shop can't assemble it without a reference of some sort oTZ and i need it by Tuesday /headwall

also i'm going to the library again tomorrow Dx at least, i know what to look for this time after combing through the college's library 8D hopefully i find enough material to write a decent report for my assignment Dx

Post-ICHIbanzai Meeting
Friday, June 12, 2009

today was the post-ICHIbanzai meeting to dissect analyze everything that happened at the event.

needless to say, the future committee if there's one is gonna have a hard time to bring in more people to the event next year Dx it's bad enough that people are already bad-talking the event without taking into account the amount of trouble the current organizing committee faced while preparing for the event...

i guess it's a good thing that Justin is planning to bring the event outside the college since they give us enough shit as it is but the biggest concern would be financial-wise Dx we're already facing lotsa problems finding for sponsors this year... imagine what we'd have to do to get sponsors if we brought the event outside the college =_=" as for myself, i support the idea of bringing the event outside the college coz they're really trying to suffocate tie us down with a whole bunch of bullshit oTZ

pro: more freedom to plan the event, able to include elaborate live action role-playing games, not tied down by college 'policies'
con: financial constraints, need to search for appropriate event location

we've been holding the event at the campus itself coz everything there is free 8D unfortunately, the only problem we faced with the college was the usage of rooms during the weekends Dx since the college utilizes a central air-conditioning system, we have to pay them to get them to turn it on coz it costs A LOT due to electricity bills oTZ

more meetings to come coz we still need to settle a lot of issues especially regarding ICHIbanzai and the club itself since our advisor will be resigning at the end of the month oTZ

ICHIbanzai '09 - Day 2
Sunday, June 7, 2009

my take on the 2nd and last day of ICHIbanzai '09:-

arrived at campus around 11am again. the booths were already up and running when i got there :D

stuck around to watch the wasabi eating competition. it looked torturous to me Dx didn't catch the name of the winner but kudos to him/her. skipped lunch today Dx

heard from Quist that the college turned off the central air-conditioning system and didn't allow usage of any classroom for the PS3 games competition Dx fortunately, the organizing committee came up with a solution: USE THE STAGE 8D a bunch of club members pulled up one of the white partitions to the stage and we used that as the backdrop for the projector 8D the PS3 was set up and we ran some demo games before the actual competition started :D at first, they were playing Dynasty Warriors 6 but they switched to Soul Caliber 4 (coz that's the game used for the competition). we opened the demo to the public so anyone could play/test out the game.
then it was time for the competition to start. the eventual winner was JC, a friend of Quist :) it was actually a close competition between JC and Sam (aka the owner of the PS3 & former president of KDU PJ's anime club) but JC prevailed :D besides, Sam had already won the Street Fighter 4 competition yesterday 8D

unfortunately, due to the unforeseen problem with the PS3 competition, the event schedule was delayed by two hours Dx next was the karaoke competition preliminaries oTZ it's a good thing Yuiko 'accompanied' me as part of the panel of judges :P
there were 6 contestants altogether. the eventual winner was Matrika Sasha from Equator Academy of Art \(^_^)/ her voice sent goosebumps all over my body 8D she was that good :D and i won't speak of one of the contestants who sang so badly, she made Yuiko choke, the other two judges cringe and i nearly died from the sheer tone-deafness/incoherent singing DX

after that was the cosplay competition. there were more contestants today compared to yesterday :D although, some of the contestants were the same ones from yesterday Dx

~ Archer [Fate/Stay Night]
~ Dante [Devil May Cry]
~ Shana [Shakugan no Shana]
~ Suzumiya Haruhi [Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu]
~ Train Heartnet [Black Cat]
~ Hinamori Amu [Shugo Chara]
~ gothic lolita
~ Sohma Akito [Fruits Basket]
~ Uchiha Itachi [Naruto]

the Itachi cosplayer came with an incomplete costume although she had the katana, hitae ate and contact lenses Dx the Haruhi and goth loli were the same ones from yesterday. the Archer cosplayer is someone i knew through Yee Mun xD he was pretty nervous on stage though Dx and i got a rose from the Dante cosplayer XD

the -Best Cosplayer Award- winner was Sohma Akito and the -Best Dressed Award- winner was the gothic lolita (coz she 'upgraded' her look xD). my unheard apologies to any cosplayer that i've offended ^^;;

and that wraps up ICHIbanzai '09 \(^_^)/
a million THANKS to everyone who came and supported the event!! to those who couldn't make it, thanks for all your good wishes and thanks for supporting the event!!

now i can sleep in 8D

♦ ♦ ♦

i saw a Russia-san cosplayer!! she wore killer heels that were 6-8 inches high o_O but it was cool that she even carried a pipe around 8D too bad i don't have her pic Dx

some pics i snagged from a friend 8D

the 'infamous' Kon cosplayer (aka Angelus) at ICHIbanzai '09:

the Sasuke and Haseo cosplayers from Day 1:

and the Archer cosplayer (aka Kogarasumaru) from Day 2:

and that's all i could find Dx

ICHIbanzai '09 - Day 1
Saturday, June 6, 2009

here's my take on ICHIbanzai '09 day one:-

left home around 10.30am and arrived at campus after speeding through the bridge around 11am 8D booths were still being set up when i got there so nothing much was going on. walked around a bit to check out what they've set up so far...

after the event was officially opened by Miss Chan Nee Nee (or CNN, as we call her XD), registration for the competitions were opened to the public like the wasabi eating competition, karaoke competition, PS3 games competition, yukata-dressing competition, cosplay competition and the ICHIbanzai Escapade game.

as the PS3 games competition started at the 2nd floor, we had to cancel the yukata-dressing competition due to insufficient amount of participants Dx

had McD for lunch 8D hung around the canteen with Quist, Kevyn, Harry and June Shen then i went back to the foyer. Tara was hanging out with the Cosgami Club from Equator Academy of Art. as it turned out, there were a group of people setting up their booth next the Cosgami Club's booth. they turned out to be from Exotic: a shop that sells Harajuku fashions; gothic, lolita and punk costumes; kimono; cosplay costumes; wigs; shoes & boots; etc, etc... they were all dressed in visual kei style and/or gothic lolita style :D then Tara pointed out one of the guys there...who was so PRETTY 8D he was pretty...and HOT 8D he was pretty hot *gets shot* 8D we bugged one of Tara's friends, who happened to be a photographer, to get some shots of him XD there was also another guy there who was cosplaying Cloud Strife (of Final Fantasy VII) and his cosplay was pretty good :D in fact, he used his own hair (which was already dyed blond) for the character, how cool is that? 8D

anyway, after fangirling the pretty boy i went to the stage area and sat down for a bit my feet were killing me..

then, the ICHIbanzai Escapade game started.. it's actually a parody of The Amazing Race coz they had to do stuff to get to the next station 8D even Justin and Quist joined the game xD it was really amusing watching them run around looking for the person who holds the next task/clue 8D

the game ended just in time for the band performances :D
the first band was called 'Session 120'. apparently all the members of the band are actually from different bands who come together to perform. they called themselves that coz their practice sessions only lasts for 120 minutes (aka 2 hours) xD couldn't catch the names of the band members but the vocalist was Yuki. the songs they performed were really upbeat and kept the crowd entertained :D
the second band was called 'Kawaii Sakura' from Melaka. this band definitely rocked the stage (quite literally too 8D) since they performed mostly j-rock songs and the crowd was at its feet when they performed 'Haruka Kanata' (from anime, Naruto). not to mention, the vocalist's guitar skills were SUPER!! you can also read more about them at Spirits of Music.

after the band performances was the cosplay competition. unfortunately, i was roped in to be one of the judges coz Duncan (of ACGC) couldn't make it Dx
there were only 7 participants for today...

~ Suzumiya Haruhi [Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu]
~ gothic lolita
~ Haseo [.hack//GU]
~ Cloud Strife [Final Fantasy VII]
~ Hei [Darker Than Black]
~ Uchiha Sasuke [Naruto Shippuden]
~ Clark Still [King of Fighters]

the -Best Cosplayer Award- winner was Clark Still and the -Best Dressed Award- winner was Haseo :D

the -Best Cosplayer Award- winner would've been Haruhi but she was a bit over the top with her portrayal of the character Dx or it could've been Cloud but he wasn't knowledgeable in his character and he seemed 'lost'... oTZ

anyway, that was the last event of the day. overall, i enjoyed myself...partly coz of the band performances :D

the karaoke competition is tomorrow and i'm one of the judges oTZ maybe i should bring ear plugs along >_>"
